August has several recognised birthstones, including Peridot, Sardonyx and Spinel. Bright green Peridot forms deep within the earth and has even been discovered in meteorites, giving it one of the most extraordinary origin stories of any birthstone.
Sardonyx is the oldest stone traditionally connected with August and has been used in jewellery and carved objects for thousands of years. Its natural layers of reddish brown, cream and black make every piece distinctive. Traditionally associated with courage, stability and strong foundations, Sardonyx is a meaningful alternative for anyone who prefers warm, earthy colours to Peridot green.
